In May 2018, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the World Conference on Human Rights, the Vienna+25 conference brought together experts from all world regions:
High-level representatives of the UN, human rights defenders and Independent human rights experts from civil society and academia, regional, sub-regional and national human rights institutions as well as representatives from the local level. The experts shared their perspectives on current human Rights challenges and elaborated practical recommendations to encourage states and other stakeholders to improve the protection of human rights, both domestically and internationally. This brochure contains the documents that were prepared ahead of the conference, such as the concept note and thematic outline papers, as well as the recommendations that were developed during the Working Group discussions at the conference.

The conference was organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the City of Vienna, and co-funded by the Austrian Development Agency.
