Guidelines to address the specific needs of women and girls with disabilities

Globally, nearly 1 in 5 women have a disability which may be physical, sensory, cognitive, or psychosocial.

ADB published its first guidelines on gender equality and disability inclusion, outlining how development work can recognize, respect, and incorporate the voices and lived experiences of women and girls with disabilities living in Asia and the Pacific.

Drawing on case studies and covering infrastructure and social sectors, these guidelines aim to identify and address the specific needs of women and girls with disabilities and propose strategies to achieve their transformative empowerment.
